Description

SUNY-ESF/RadTech Webinar Series: UV Through the Years: A Studio Artist's Perspective

Sidney Hutter, Sidney Hutter Glass & Light, Inc.

This presentation will discuss the research and use of UV and related technology in my fine art glass sculptures. As a leading member of the contemporary glass art movement, my work has gone through several changes over the years and UV technology has been at the forefront of my studio practice. As a studio artist, I have had to adapt commercial practices to my small scale applications. I will briefly discuss the history of my art and use of UV technology from 1989 to the present, leading to recent adventures in Colored and Special Effect Pigment technology. In addition I will discuss the incorporation of Dispersing and Suspension Agents and the reexamination of photo initiators used to create my own UV adhesive recipes.
